How do lasers work? Lasers are nothing but light. Light has a spectrum, and within that there is a visible spectrum which we have learnt as an acronym, VIBGYOR since our childhood days. When we filter out light into its individual colours ( meaning individual wavelength; because wavelength defines colour of light), we get specific lights, very simply known as LASER. Laser stands for Light amplification through stimulated emission of radiation. Though the word radiation is used, medical lasers do not emit radiation and are completely safe. The safety aspect, I will deal later. The word Laser is a wrong usage, the correct being LASER, since it is an acronym, but for simplicity, we use the former Basics of Lasers Lasers are simply a single colour of light (or wavelength), specially selected by way of devices known as Laser chambers and filters. Thus we can wonder, why we need to select specific light. This is because lasers need to be specific. For example, if we want to act upon hair for hair removal, we target a structure known as melanocyte, and more specifically, melanin, which is the pigment in the melanocyte. This pigment responds to light at the wavelength of around 725 nm; thus if we can get a light at this wavelength, we would be able to selectively destroy melanin and the melanocyte, which is present in the hair root, and thus destroy the hair permanently. Because the skin and the other structures like blood cells are a different colour, they do not respond at this wavelength, and a laser at this wavelength, causes no harm to these structures, accounting for their specificity and their safety. Lasers have been used for a number of indications like tattoo removal, correction of wrinkles, melasma reduction, skin rejuvenation, hair removal, photo rejuvenation, correction of stretch marks, birth mark removal and many others in the field of plastic surgery. Please remember that when you choose a surgeon for laser surgery, he should be a plastic surgeon, please check his credentials, whether he has been trained in Laser science. It is very easy to perform lasers, any child can do that, what is important is to deal with any problems that can occur after lasers. One needs thorough knowledge to deal with these problems. Please do not go to a laser centre, just because it is cheaper. You should find out which laser they have, whether it is a specific laser for that machine. With medical science becoming increasingly commercial, a lot of surgeons do what they want, and sweet talk unsuspecting clients into wrong practices. Mail me on guptamit76@gmail.com for any details. The popularity of self-tanning products is surging, showing that Americans are wising up about sun safety. Theyre putting their money where their skin is.
Skin takes a lot of wear and tear, so it naturally regenerates itself. Every 35-45 days the outer layer of the skin, the epidermis, is completely replaced. Since skin pigment is found in this upper layer, any natural or added pigment will be sloughed away in about one months time. This is why natural tans fade and why many self-tanning products recommend you re-apply the product every few days to maintain your tan.
Self-tanning products, also called sunless tanning lotions, contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA), a colorless sugar that interacts with dead surface cells in the epidermis, staining the skin darker. The effect is temporary, because as the dead cells naturally slough off, the color fades, disappearing within a week unless the lotion has been reapplied. Thats a lot more healthful than a suntan, however, because while suntans also start fading after a few days, the harm done to the skin is permanent.
Getting a suntan breaks down the DNA in skin cells, but using self-tanners causes no such damage. At worst, sunless tanning products present a minimal risk of irritant or allergic reactions.
1. Self-tanning takes time. Allow AT LEAST a half hour, although an hour would be best. But dont be discouraged; it would still take longer to get the same amount of color from the sun and with self-tanners there is absolutely no risk of wrinkles, skin cancer, or sunburn!
2. Take a quick shower or bath (dont soak) and exfoliate your skin, either with a washcloth or body scrub. Dont overscrub, but do pay extra attention to your knees, ankles, feet, elbows, and neck. This will help achieve a uniform appearance since self-tanners grab on to dry surface skin cells, and you may have more dead, thickened skin cells in certain areas. After showering and completely drying off, apply a thin layer of lightweight moisturizer over the areas where you will be applying self-tanner. This will help the self-tanner glide on without clinging to dry patches. A little extra moisturizer over ankles, knees, and elbows can prevent those areas from looking patchy. I have seen some recommendations to mix self-tanner with your moisturizer, but I advise against this because it will encourage streaking (unless you can precisely mix them which isnt easy) plus it will take longer for the self-tanner to absorb and dry.
Perspiration also will make self-tanners streak, so take a cool shower or bath to keep from sweating. Your skin must be completely dry to get the best results. Do not apply self-tanner in a steamy, hot bathroom or on a humid, hot day (unless your home is air-conditioned).
3. Ideally, you should apply the self-tanner while naked, but you can also wear an old bathing suit (one you dont plan to wear outside) to help determine where you want your tan line to end. Either way, have a game plan of where you want to stop and start the color. (Do you want tan armpits? What about places like your heels, hands, and ears?) Remember that self-tanners will stain clothing until they completely absorb into the skin and take effect on the skin cell.
Applying self-tanner on your back requires a friend with a helping hand, although you can use a long-handled paintbrush (note that this poses some issues of potential dripping and uneven application if you are not able to blend the product in).br

I think it is essential to familiarize yourself with the power of color. It is such an important part of an artists work. Color can set the mood, convey a feeling, and enhance or detract from our focal point.
The Readers Digest Great Encyclopedic Dictionary (one of my favorite books) defines color thus: A visual attribute of bodies or substances distinct from their spatial characteristics and depending upon the spectral composition of the wavelengths of radiant energy capable of stimulating the retina and its associate neural structures.
… whaaaat?
All I know is, blue, red, yellow, turquoise, lime green, purple, magenta, gold, crimson, I love them all. I cant wait to open your eyes to the wide world of color!
As an abstract artist, texture and color are two important elements in my work. Acrylic paint is my medium of choice because it is so very versatile. Acrylics come in a variety of consistencies including inks, fluids, and heavy body paint. In the references that follow, I use Golden Artist Colors unless otherwise noted.
The best way to learn about color is to actually DO color mixing.
So I suggest you go cut a number of 8 x 10 pieces of watercolor paper or primed canvas so you can try all the following techniques. I think you will find these sheets a great reference tool.
Supplies you will need for our C O L O R adventure:
Disposable paper palette (no messy clean up?I like it!)
Mixing knife or palette knife (any size will do)
Watercolor paper or primed canvas (there are pads available of both at your local art supply store; make sure you get actual primed canvas?not that paper stuff which I think is really icky)
Water containers for cleaning brushes
Synthetic brush of your choice (#8 round or #6 flat is good)
Spray bottle to keep paint moist
Paper towel for blotting and cleaning brush
Color Wheel
Paint colors as listed in following pages
(Also visit Goldens web site listed below for color samples)
Ok, lets talk color.
Lets start with the basic color wheel. If you dont have one, get one. Its loaded with good information and visually reiterates the following:
Primary colors are yellow, red, blue. You have to start with these colors as they cant be mixed from anything else. Hence the term primary.
Secondary colors are orange, purple, green. Yellow + red = orange. Red + blue = purple. Blue + yellow = green.
Tertiary (third round of mixes from primary and secondary colors) include colors like blue-green, red-violet, yellow-orange.
Colors can be visually warm or cool. Warm colors include yellow, orange, and red; cool colors include purple, blue, green. Yellow can, however, be cool just as a green can be warm, depending on the pigments used to make that particular color.
The colors listed below are chosen for their purity; only two primaries used to make them.
Warm:
Cadmium Yellow Medium (trace of red no blue)
Ultramarine Blue (trace of red but no yellow)
Cadmium Red Light (little yellow but no blue)
Cool:
Cadmium Yellow Light (trace of blue no red)
Phthalo Blue (little yellow but no red)
Acra Violet or Quin Magenta (trace of blue no yellow)
Complimentary Colors:
You probably heard the term complimentary colors, right? They are directly across from each other on the color wheel. Thats all well and good but what if you dont HAVE a color wheel in front of you? Here is a quick way to figure it out.
If you are looking for the compliment to red, the two primary colors left are yellow and blue; mixed together they make green which is the compliment to red. The compliment to yellow? Blue and red are the primaries left that, when mixed, make purple – the compliment to yellow. Cool, eh?
What if you want to know the complimentary color to purple? Well ??. red and blue mix to make purple, the primary color left is yellow, which is the compliment to purple. TA-DA!
What about orange? Yellow and red make orange, blue is the primary left. Blue and orange are complimentary colors. Got it? Pretty simple. All you really need to know are your primary and secondary colors.
Knowing about complimentary colors is key for two reasons:
1. Complimentary colors, when painted next to each other, enhance one another and almost glow. Why do you think a red rose is so stunning? Its those wonderful green leaves making the red dance. Did you ever wonder why so many spring flowers are purple and yellow? Mother Nature knows what shes doing.
2. Complimentary colors, when mixed together, create a neutralized or grayed-down version of the original color. Alter the proportions to get blue gray, green gray, or purple gray; red brown, yellow brown, or greenish brown.
Sooooo, when you have a blue that is too bright, you can dull it by adding a bit of orange. Give it a try. Take a dollop of blue and add a small amount of orange. Mix well and watch how the blue changes from bright to dull. Uh oh, are you getting a greenish brown? Thats because you added too much orange or the orange may have too much yellow in it. Yellow and blue make green, remember?
We learned something here. We got a brown because blue and orange are complimentary colors and create neutralized versions of the original color. This can be a wonderful color or something less than desired – just depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Neutrals make the bright colors in your work sing. Use them around your focal point or to create quiet areas where the eye can rest.
When a paint manufacturer attempts to convert the colors we SEE into color pigment in a tube, well, lets just say they do the best they can. Did you know that most of the paint colors available contain all three primary pigments to come up with the final color you squirt onto your palette?
Why is that important?
Because Red and Blue dont Always Make Purple
We know that it takes red and blue to make purple and yellow is the compliment. Which red and blue do you choose to mix a bright purple? (HINT: NOT red with yellow in it. Red and yellow make orange, the compliment to blue which will make a gray purple not a bright one.) Got the idea?
If you dont believe me, mix some Pyrrole Red (which looks like a true red) with Pthalo Blue and see what you get. Now try it with Acra Violet or Quinacridone Magenta ? ahhhhh, much better.
Now this is a pretty basic explanation of color mixing. There are so many books about color available, my suggestion is to find one that makes sense to you, learn it, use it, and then study other theories.
OK, so why is it important to know all this stuff?
Because color is crucial to convey our message,
to express ourselves artistically.
The Highly Technical Marble Drop Theory
Is this making sense yet? I know this is a lot of information, and it took me quite a while to filter/assimilate it. As Shrek might say, Color study has layers. We cant get it all at once (darn it). Dont worry if you are befuddled, just keep at it.
Let me share my marble drop theory. Our brains can only comprehend so much information at any given time. When learning new techniques/methods, it is difficult to hold onto all these various tidbits. I picture them as marbles all lined up waiting to be absorbed.
At some point you will think AHA! I get it! and the marble will drop for that particular tidbit of information – you will no longer have to struggle with it. This makes room in your brain for the next pearl of wisdom.
Your art journey is a spiral. As you get each new principle, when you come back around to study, oh, say color again, you have the capacity for a higher-level of understanding.
I hope this helps you on your artistic journey. Visit my web site listed below to view my work and check out my zine Feed the Addict, which contains more color mixing information and actual color samples.
Have a very creative day!

We have to admit that when it comes to an effective way of treating brown spots, we always go for surgical treatments-at least to people who can afford to shell out that much money. It is time to recognize the advantages of natural treatments if not to save money then to provide more benefits to your skin.
By natural treatments, I dont mean the eclectic, sort-of traditional kind of methods. There are natural treatments today that do not involve you applying some form of freshly concocted herbs and botanical ingredients. The messy work has already been done by reliable manufacturing companies and the products are delivered to you in a more convenient packaging.
I am talking about creams, of course. They maybe bottled or jarred up but the evidence that they are still natural are in its list of ingredients. Let me tell you more about the latest effective natural ingredients.
The root of Extrapone Nutgrass has been discovered to contain components that can lighten up dark spots in the skin. It can actually inhibit melanin production and hyper pigmentation significantly. Other than being a natural skin lightener, it can also help get rid of skin irritation and redness.
Wakame sea kelp commonly found in Japan has also shown good potential in prolonging the youthful functions of the skin. We all know that surface brown spots are some of the signs of skin aging. The components in Wakame kelp can actually help sustain your hyaluronic acid that is subsequently responsible for giving you a young-looking skin.
Another ingredient deemed remarkable is Manuka Honey. This particular honey found in New Zealand contains numerous vitamins and minerals. On top of that, it also has natural bleaching properties that can get rid of dark blemishes on skin.
If you have successfully found a cream with these ingredients, then you have hit the jackpot. Commit to its use and you will see a huge difference.

Age spots are caused by over exposure to the sun. Many people when faced with these spots do not even understand where they got them in the first place. Age spots are also known as liver spots and sun spots and they tend to manifest themselves later on in life. That is why when you are younger you do not see them as they take years to show up.
These are most common on the back, neck, face and chest as these are the parts of the body which are more exposed to the sun. The pigment producing cells in your body known as melanocytes when the UV rays of the sun comes into contact with your bodys Melanocytes this activity encourages the body to produce more of the pigment called melanin which gives the skin its dark color.
Over exposure to the sun can sometimes lead to skin cancer you have to be very careful to protect the exposed parts of your body by wearing sunscreen of SPF 15 and higher. If you see spots appear on your body and they seem to be changing in size and shape and color consult with your skin care specialist and have the spots evaluated to make sure the y are indeed age spots.
Age spots manifest themselves as you get older. They are more popular in light skin people and people who have freckles.
You know have some idea as to what cause age spots lets see if you can find the best way to treat them:
Your skin is the largest organ of your body and therefore needs to be properly cared for. It provides a great function by protection the body keeping out germs and viruses. Keeping the skin healthy is very important and you need to provide it with all the nutrients it needs to stay healthy.
Natural products are the best choice when choosing skin care. and if you are experiencing age spots you want to ensure you are not using any of those bleaching creams that will cause irritation on your skin and make it even more damaged.
The best way to get rid of age spots is to find a natural product containing ingredients extracted from plant not any of those harsh chemicals. There is a substance that has been used in a skin whitening cream that has effectively removed age spots and leave the skin with perfect tone.
Extrapone Nutgrass is a natural melanin inhibitor which prevents the UV rays of the sun from activating the melanin deposits in your skin. It has been shown to inhibit melanin by up to 40%. It has been tried, tested and proven to work almost like magic in evening out the skin tone.
What causes age spots and how to get rid of them is not so difficult as long as you know the proper treatment to use that will not cause any harmful side effect.

What is Paper Mache? Basically, with this you get some newspaper and rip it up. Pummel it with water which leaves you with a soggy lump. At this stage it is ready for you to mould it into any shape that you like.
When it is at the wet stage, you then add glue to it. Once you have acquired your required shape you have to leave it to dry. Similar to wood you can then put a primer on it, before you go on to paint your article.
The advantages with this being that this medium is both strong and yet also light. This is so useful as it can be used to create so many things.
Sugar Cane is paper made from the actual husk of the sugar cane. It comes in many colours and you can tear it, even though it is thick and fibrous. Good for paper mache, because it is very absorbent, but it is also used as a surface to be drawn on.
Gesso – This is a priming coat for canvas or other surfaces before you actually start to paint. It is a sort of glue. This normally consists of whiting, chalk, white pigment or plaster.
This will seal your canvas and the white gesso gives a reflective surface to paint on and hopefully keeps the canvas from rolling.
Impasto – With this, heavy layers of paint are transferred to the canvas, either by loading a paintbrush or by using a palette knife. Usually this will create a textured surface as you have bristle marks in the paint creating stroke impressions.
Pigment is the actual substance used to colour the paint or dye. Very finely ground down particles make up the paint medium. Many are made synthetically. Years ago they came from plants, animals and minerals.
Embossed – A surface that has been stamped or marked so that you have a pattern, or it could also be carved. This, sometimes, is done on metal with a hammer.
Fixatives are a way of trying to preserve your painting. These can be sprayed or brushed on.
Positive and Negative Shapes – If you analyse shapes within a painting or drawing, the terms often used, are positive and negative. The main object or the main parts of your drawing or painting are obviously the positive shape.
The negative shape will be what else surrounds it. Bear in mind for your drawing to work, both parts need equal attention.
A Grid is used for still life drawings. With a sheet of mounting board, you draw squares onto this and place it like a screen behind your objects to be drawn. This makes it possible then to decide where the shadows and shapes need to be for your painting.
Acrylic Retarder – 10% of this can be used with acrylic paints. It will increase the amount of the paints open drying time. Good for wet in wet styles, blending and shading. It will also lessen skin forming on your palette.
Acrylic Gloss Varnish, if mixed with colours, will increase the way the paint flows, also their transparency and luminosity. This is good for quick drying glazes. It also makes your brush strokes blend well on your surface and is certainly flexible.

There are many factors that are causes of dark of dark circles under eyes. The following factors are the most common causes of dark circles around eyes.
Heredity
Like many skin conditions, dark circles under the eyes are often an inherited trait. It is very common for family members to have similar dark circles. The skin that is under your eyes is very thin. When veins are close to the surface of the skin, it can give the appearance of a blue or dark color. The thinner your skin, which is also inherited, the darker the circles will appear.
Exposure to sunlight
The sun causes pigmentation to be drawn to the surface of the skin. This is true in darker or lighter skinned people. The more you are exposed to sunlight, the more natural pigmentation that is affected. This contributes to the appearance of dark circles. Wearing large sunglasses will help.
Itchy eyes
Any condition, such as eczema, asthma or allergies that causes the eyes to itch contributes to dark circles under the eyes. Excessive rubbing of the skin will cause it to darken. Hay fever sufferers often get circles under the eyes during hay fever season. Certain food allergies can also contribute to darker skin under the eyes.
Nutrition
A diet not containing important nutrients, or a diet that is not properly balanced, can contribute to black circles around and under the eyes.
Medicine
Many medications cause an increase in blood flows. This can cause the blood vessels under the eyes to dilate, giving the appearance of circles.
Pregnancy and Menstruation
Many womens skin becomes very pale during menstruation and pregnancy. This allows the veins under the eyes to be more visible, and darker looking.
Not enough sleep
Not getting enough sleep can cause the skin to become pale. This allows the blood under the skin to be much more visible under the eyes.
Age
People with a predisposition to have dark circles under you eyes, will find that as they grow older, the circles will become more evident and permanent. In addition, wrinkles and crows feet under the eyes will make dark circles more noticeable.

While there are a variety of treatments available for age spots, the safest and most affordable remains topical treatments like creams and ointments. This article is aimed at helping you find the best age spot hand cream.
We all hate those age spots that start showing up on our skin later in life. Caused primarily by sun exposure, these are areas on your skin where the melanin (that’s the pigment of your skin) has grouped together. These areas grow more and more prevalent the older you get.
1. Sun protection
The first thing you need to realize is that, by simply taking care not to expose yourself to the sun more than is necessary, you can already help to prevent age spots from escalating in color and number.
It’s always a bonus if the topical treatment you use has a built-in sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15.
2. Inform yourself about the dangers
Next, be aware of the hidden dangers of many topical treatments. One of the most popular recommendations you will come across is a prescription drug called Hydroquinone. In 2006, after studies turned up evidence linking hydroquinone to cancer in mice and rats, the FDA proposed a ban on all cosmetics based on this substance.
However, there is no evidence to suggest danger to humans when the product is only applied topically. Care should be taken not to apply it with other skin treatments like Benzoyl Peroxide as this could cause dark stains on your skin.
Other compounds commonly used in topical treatments, like Tretinoin, comes with a long list of possible side effects.
3. Natural ingredients that help
Ultimately, the best age spot hand cream will be something that’s safe and natural.
Little known natural ingredients like Extrapone nutgrass root has been proven to be particularly good at inhibiting the formation of melanin. This is the pigment that gives the skin its dark color. As part of a topical treatment, when prepared the right way, it can have an appreciable whitening effect on the skin.
Another great ingredient is shea butter. This provides natural sun protection, although the actual amount can vary and is seldom more than SPF6. Shea butter is also a great moisturizer and absorbs quickly into the skin without any greasiness.
In conclusion, before you go the over-the-counter or prescription chemical route, you owe it to the long term health of your skin to try a safe and natural age spot hand cream first. The results may surprise you.

The Smoothster is a transparent colored mineral product that
unifies the color and evens the skin tone of the face. Mineral’s
natural matte softly reflects light, visually smoothing out the
surface and color of the skin, making you look younger,
healthier and confident. Nanotechnology is a breakthrough for
minerals, nanoparticles have different properties than their
larger versions; Nanopigments reflect light more evenly so the
color is more transparent on the skin, they cling to the skin
surface refracting and reflecting light as a sun protection.
Pure nanominerals are inert, won’t irritate or clog pores,
they’re Very Water Resistant (that’s a rating meaning the
product won’t wash away while swimming) and won’t rub off onto
clothing like oil based products do.
Now that you know about this product, do you need it? That’s a
big Yes, if you are interested in looking your best when working
closely with people, if you feel more confident not worrying
about blemishes or uneven skin tone. The Smoothster can be used
on the face, neck and hands to smooth out uneven skin conditions
such as sun or age spots. Colorescience is also the manufacturer
of Sunforgettable, SPF 30 clear mineral sunscreen; the
Smoothster is a colored version of the mineral nanotechnology,
and protects your skin from the sun as well (although it has not
been rated as yet).
This product is easy to use, the Smoothster contains warm tan
and soft yellow pigments and you will quickly become familiar
and comfortable with the no problem application; yellow
transparent pigment brightens and evens ruddy complexion and
rosacea, and the reddish tan contours, evens out darker toned
skin and can be used as a “Bronzer”. You will see the pigment
disappear as you rub it into the skin and your evenly toned skin
emerges.
This is a fantastic, natural looking product that is easy to
apply as you rub it in and forget about it. You will look and
feel the same as ever … only better.
